Manitoba Choral Association (MCA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting, strengthening, and promoting the choral arts in Manitoba. Among our many activities, we present high-quality artistic, cultural, and educational programs and events; provide resources for choral singers, groups, and leaders of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities; provide opportunities for all Manitobans to experience and enjoy choral music; support and celebrate choral musicians, composers, and contributors through awards and scholarships; promote Manitoba choral concerts, events, and initiatives; and advocate on behalf of the choral community.
MCA recently entered into partnership with the Winnipeg Arts Council for the Winnipeg 150: City of Song initiative, which will celebrate the city’s 150th anniversary through choral and singing events hosted by various organizations throughout 2024. As part of this initiative, MCA plans to offer additional programs and events to engage the choral community and the public, over and above those that MCA has already planned to take place around the province.
Reporting to the Executive Director and working collaboratively with MCA’s staff team, the Program Coordinator manages administrative tasks and provides logistical and on-site support for MCA’s full calendar of programs and events, including those that are part of Winnipeg 150, from the planning stage through to execution. The full-time term position is based in the MCA office in Winnipeg; however, arrangements may be made to do part of the work remotely from time-to-time. It is expected that some evening and/or weekend hours will regularly be required for meetings and events.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
Post-secondary education and/or training in a related field, or a minimum of three (3) years of related work experience or equivalent
Strong oral and written communication skills in English
Strong interpersonal skills
Good critical and creative thinking skills
Detail-oriented
Service-oriented work approach
Ability to take initiative and work independently
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
Experience planning and/or managing events (performances and/or choral events an asset)
Experience working with various technological platforms and computer software (including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, QuickBooks, Wix, and CRM Platforms)
A Class 5 driver’s license and access to a vehicle is preferred
Appreciation for the choral arts and/or experience working with non-profit arts organizations is considered an asset
French language skills are considered an asset
The position is full-time (35 hours/week). The term start date will be determined in conjunction with the candidate and finish February 28, 2025. The position offers an annual salary range of $38,000-$44,000/year (depending on qualifications and experience) plus vacation and benefits.
